Position Description:

The Project Officer shall support implementation of an early warning project in Myanmar. He/She shall coordinate with project partners and stakeholders; liaise with Myanmar’s Department of Meteorology and Hydrology as per requirements of the project; organize community and district level meetings and training workshops; facilitate equipment acquisition and installation for establishing redundant communication systems; and assist in process and results documentation and reporting.

Duty Station:

Yangon, Myanmar and periodically at Nay Pyi Taw

Type of Contract: 

Project staff, for project duration from October 2015 – October 2017

Remuneration and Benefits:

  • Monthly base salary negotiable, commensurate with qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge: At least Bachelor’s degree in rural development, sociology, geography, or related field; knowledge and understanding of early warning for disaster risk reduction and resource management

Experience: At least 2 years experience in project-related work and coordination with various stakeholders at different levels; demonstrable experience in community development work and applied research

Skills and Abilities: Proven ability to organize work and perform with minimum supervision; excellent English communication skills; ability to communicate technical matters effectively to general audiences

Personal Qualities: Excellent interpersonal skills; team-oriented work style; pleasant personality; a heart to serve people; strong desire to learn and undertake new challenges; creative problem-solver; experience in working in a multi-cultural environment
