Duties and Responsibilities

The UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction (IRDR) is a cross-UCL Institute, which leads research, knowledge exchange and advanced teaching in the area of risk and disaster reduction (RDR).
In March 2018, UCL IRDR will launch a new Centre for Gender and Disaster, which aims to develop awareness of and responsiveness to gender for risks and disasters through excellence in research and teaching. We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow, who will work with colleagues in the IRDR to develop and deliver independent and collaborative research in gender and disasters, will become part of the UCL IRDR research community, and will participate in seeking external research funding for the IRDR. The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
Key Requirements
The candidate should have a PhD in gender and disasters or a closely related field, good knowledge and understanding of research methods and gender issues as they relate to a broad disaster context, and the ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences, internationally. The successful applicant should have excellent organisational and team working skills, and a commitment to high quality research and knowledge exchange.
