Position Description
The Scientific Programmer, reporting to the earthquake and tsunami investigation team Leader - Systems Development and Research Unit, assists in the development and implementation of decision support systems, and participates in scientific research for RIMES regional facility for earthquake monitoring and tsunami watch.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge: Bachelor or Master degree in technology, specialized in computer science, mathematics, or relevant fields.
Experience: At least 2 years experience in development of IT solutions that support database management system and data analysis; demonstrated experience in statistical tools and techniques; knowledge of web-services, Perl/CGI, C, and Python; working Experience under UNIX/LINUX environment; proficiency with web development
Skills and Abilities: Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; strong computer simulation skills; ability to train others in the use of visualization software and techniques.
Personal Qualities: Willingness to work hard and under high pressure; highly motivated and result-oriented; ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and different experience levels; strong desire to learn and undertake new challenges; has good sense of humor and fun, but with seriousness about the quality and excellence of work.
