TARU Leading Edge is planning to recruit a dynamic, self-motivated, and results-oriented Senior Consultant to provide necessary support to its project activities wherever needed within India and overseas. This is a full-time position under Risk and Resilience practice of TARU Leading Edge. The Senior Consultant will work from TARU’s New Delhi office under the direct supervision of Director, Risk and Resilience. The Senior Consultant is expected to play a key role through leading TARU initiatives at the national level especially in business development, project execution, networking and partnership building, client relations, knowledge management, office management, monitoring of activities, etc.

Work Profile

  • Develop business goal and strategy for implementation in sync with business development plan of Risk and Resilience Practice;
  • Lead and support various business development activities for the Risk and Resilience practice against the specified targets;
  • Support in proposal development, project implementation, project reports, and monitoring of activities;
  • Development of concept/background notes and terms of references related to operations;
  • Represent TARU at various forums including conferences, workshops, bid meetings, and other events;
  • Showcase brand TARU by effectively positioning the organization as the preferred partner amongst partners and clients;
  • Liaise and maintain client, stakeholder and media relations;
  • Support in partnership building with NGOs, INGOs, Technical Organizations, CBOs, Collectives, etc;
  • Lead, manage and support various projects within the practice. Support the project implementation and execution activities in the practice;
  • Support in project team management, coordination and mentoring;
  • Ability to write technical reports and support the technical initiatives for ongoing projects;
  • Lead in knowledge management through writing stories, blogs, articles in newspapers/journals, etc;
  • Conduct field visits to the project sites and identify strengths/weaknesses in program implementation and provide feedback and technical assistance to improve both individual and institutional performances for effective programming;
  • Keep up-to- date with the work of all of the project teams, as well as the organization as a whole, in order to provide timely information to senior TARU staff; 
  • Hold self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modelling TARU’s business development and operation values;
  • Aligning work style with established work culture and leadership team;
  • Any other related activities, as assigned.

Experience

  • At least 7+ years of work experience within Disaster Management, Urban Development, Climate Change, Environment, Hazard Risk, Mitigation etc. with Government, NGO’s, INGO’s, national and international consulting agencies and research firms;
  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Disaster Management or Structural Engineering from recognized institutes;
  • Experience in leading and managing teams;
  • Team player with an ability to work under pressure and meeting deadlines;
  • Good analytical and knowledge management skills including writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent networking and partnership building skills;
  • Ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan/design and execute ideas;
  • Able to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to travel extensively;
  • Experience with GIS and Statistical tools/software will be an added advantage.

Professional fluency in English. Knowledge of other regional languages would be added advantage.

Computer skills: Geospatial software, statistical software, modelling software

Reporting Line: The Senior Consultant will report to the Director, Risk and Resilience at TARU.

The remuneration shall not be a constraint for the deserving candidate.
