ICEM - International Centre for Environmental Management is an award-winning independent technical service centre that assists government, private sector and communities to define and implement policies for ecologically sustainable development. Established in Australia 1999, ICEM has its regional headquarters in Hanoi and is staffed by full-time international and national technical and administrative personnel.

Since 2016, ICEM also has an office in Yangon, Myanmar. ICEM works in Asia and the Pacific - especially in the Mekong countries and focuses on climate change, water resources management, disaster risk management, energy efficiency and renewables, environmental assessment, environmental economics, and biodiversity conservation. ICEM seeks to integrate environmental concerns with development through spatial planning, modelling, socio-economic analysis and environmental assessment tools. ICEM is now seeking to employ a Senior International Staff based in Yangon, Myanmar on a two-year renewable contract.

The position includes the following tasks:

  • Technical input to ICEM projects: implement project activities, trainings and workshops, technical backstopping to project teams, delivery of presentations, and developing and championing new approaches and methodologies.
  • Project management: management of project specialists, coordination, work planning, mission and workshop organization, operational facilitation and backstopping, and ensuring reporting is carried out to schedule and to the highest quality.
  • Team management: oversee the work of the Myanmar ICEM team ensuring high-quality delivery, motivation and performance, regular briefings, orientation and capacity building of staff, reporting to ICEM’s senior management.
  • Building ICEM’s program: outreach and networking with donors, development partners, research organizations and other stakeholders to scope project opportunities, writing expressions of interests, proposals and concept notes to expand ICEM’s portfolio of projects.
  • Contributing to ICEM communications: preparing ICEM publications, discussion papers and other knowledge management products linked to ICEM’s mandate and projects.

Applicants should have academic qualifications in engineering or science and international experience in any or several of the following fields:

  • Climate change
  • Disaster risk management
  • Water resources management
  • Environmental assessment
  • Environmental economics
  • Integrated natural resource management
  • Biodiversity conservation
  • Energy efficiency and renewables
  • Climate resilient agriculture
  • GIS, modelling and spatial analysis
