The DTU Climate Centre Risø is seeking a Senior Researcher for the development and application of climate change impact and adaptation models. Current research includes using detailed GIS-based data systems, economic models, and integrated assessment models to analyse regional climate change risks, costs, adaptation strategies, and decision making in the face of uncertainty. The research environment is inter-disciplinary, and includes energy planning experts, geophysicists, climatologists, economists, and geographers. There is a close, ongoing project collaboration with leading Danish climate change research groups, including the Danish Meteorological Institute, Copenhagen University, and Århus University.

Duties and responsibilities

- The new staff member will be part of Danish and international research projects, including model development as well as policy analysis in collaboration with decision makers, the private sector, and other stakeholders.
- The ongoing research projects include a Danish university and research centre collaboration on regional climate change impacts and adaptation (CRES), and the new staff member will be actively involved in model development, application, and PhD supervision as part of this project.
- The new staff member will be involved in the development of research funding applications to the EU, and to Danish research councils.

Qualifications

- Candidates should have a PhD degree in Science, Engineering, or Economics or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc.
- Experience in climate change and adaptation modelling, inter-disciplinary team work, and in management of complex data systems will be an advantage.

- scientific production and research potential at international level
- innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
- the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities
- the ability to promote and utilize research results
- an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
- the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
