Overview of DMS Team at ADPC:
The Disaster Management Systems (DMS) Team is pursuing the advancement of Disaster Risk Management through projects and programs in the following thematic areas:
• Building capacities of National, Provincial and District Disaster Management Systems in the South and South East Asian region;
• Supporting and strengthening the effectiveness of regional mechanisms;
• Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction into Development practice;
• Mobilizing support from government departments and agencies for Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) through interventions at policy, planning and implementation levels;
• Developing tools and techniques for disaster risk management.
Required Qualifications:
1. University degree in Development studies, social sciences, urban and regional planning or related subjects;
2. Having at least 3 years practical experience in development sector;
3. Past experience in disaster risk reduction would be an added advantage;
4. Ability to ‘think out of box’, understand, link and articulate various aspects of disaster risk reduction with the broader development agenda;
5. Knack for writing and documentation;
6. Experience and interest to work in a multi-cultural team ;
7. Fluency in both spoken and written English is a necessity;
8. Ability to work for long hours and under pressure;
9. With ‘grey matter’ willing to exercise and dash of humour will be most appreciated.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with the DMS team on various projects on research related to disaster risk reduction and development;
2. Work with the DMS team on different aspects of program/project development related to mainstreaming DRR into development;
3. Assist in the process of documentation of case studies of projects implemented by ADPC and its partners;
4. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Team Leader, Program Manager and Project Manager of DMS.
