Position Description
The Systems Support and Development Specialist provides computing support to RIMES regional facility for earthquake monitoring and tsunami watch, manages and maintains RIMES intranet, internet, mail server, DHCP and DNS server, supports systems development, trains technical staff from RIMES Member and Collaborating States on operational tsunami watch, and serves tsunami watch duty on rotational basis as part of an earthquake and tsunami investigation team.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge: Bachelor’s, preferably Master’s, degree in technology, specialized in computer science/engineering
Experience: At least 2 years work experience in mainframe computing servers; experience in hardware and software of the Unix environment; experience in computer networking and security; experience in Unix/ Linux operating systems and system programming; experience in providing training to system users
Skills and Abilities: Good programming skills and experience in Fortran, C++, and shell scripts; demonstrated ability to plan and organize application work independently; excellent English proficiency in communication, presentation, and report writing
