About DACAAR

DACAAR is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization that supports sustainable development in Afghanistan through promoting the ability of local communities to decide upon and manage their own development process. The organisation employs around 650 staff of whom 11 are expatriates. Duties and resposibilities

• Conducts training workshops as directed by the supervisor.
• Identify together with community potential natural disasters.
• Consults prerequisite activities to reduce disaster risks.
• Plans and conducts DRR awareness programs for the DRR committees.
• Establish Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) committees on village and district level.
• Conduct DRR training with communities.
• Give awareness to communities how to reduce risk of natural disasters.
• Analyze situation of communities for potential natural disasters.
• Trains DRR established committees in order to take part when disaster occurred.
• Identifies shortcomings in training and recommends changes in order to customize training programs to suit regional and cultural requirements.
• Contributes towards the development and monitoring of the training.
• Studies situation in the provinces – end up with a potential list to risks occurring in the provinces/districts targeted by the ECHO project.
• Studies situation for each of the villages/communities.
• Identifies type and severity of risks in order to enable the personnel to prepare for their approach towards the communities.
• Identify the size of the communities and the size of the village; it could be well possible that the inclusion of the community members in the CBDRM is more than what the project covers.
• Creates awareness with the elders and see if there is a need for the DRR approach
• Organizes a small workshop to analyze the situation, after the need is severe enough (as identified by community), tries to cover all the forms that are required.
• Any other task given the supervisor.

Qualification


Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education or equivalent relevant education.

Experience: Three years experience in related training

• Proven ability to be a self starter.
• Able to balance and negotiate priorities in a multi-functional role with competing time demands.
• Comfortable with the risk and uncertainty of leading a young, innovative training centre.
• Creative thinker with a strategic, analytical approach to problem solving.
• Able to quickly establish credibility with partners, stakeholders and potential donors.
• Possesses excellent communication skills (written and oral).
• Strong abilities in English language.
• Possesses a natural aptitude for training.
• Proactive with an assertive, friendly, ‘can do’
