The volunteer is for supporting the core training and capacity development of ADPC Academy. The ADPC Academy is the capacity development department that hosts all of the ADPC flagship training programs and supports other training and capacity development activities through comprehensive training and capacity needs assessments, training design, delivery, and evaluation. It fosters long-term partnerships with national training institutions, universities, and research and development agencies to provide customized training and capacity development tools through face-to-face as well as e-learning modalities. The Academy aims to achieve the following;

  • Provide “state of the art” capacity and professional development services;
  • Design and develop international, regional, and customized national training curricula based on technically sound pedagogical and andragogical tools and state-of-the-art communication technology applications;
  • Provide training & capacity building related services (master trainers, standardized training packages, simulation & excise packages, assistance for professional development through academic courses) for improving the delivery of training & capacity building and implementation of related projects;
  • Serve as the hub of disaster and climate resilience capacity building through networking with national training centers/institutes/qualified individuals;
  • Develop or/and strengthen an active network of National Partner Training Institutions and ADPC alumni for systematic upgrading of the capacity through the delivery of refresher courses enabling them to serve as a resource at the national level.

Expected Outputs:

The volunteer is expected to support:

  • Regional training activities, which are the Academy’s flagship training courses;
  • Tailor-made training activities that the Academy provides to national training agencies to standardize and deliver localized training courses;
  • Program-based training activities that are delivered by the technical departments with support from Academy;

ADPC’s ongoing training programs include generic, hazard-specific, and customized courses

Responsibilities and Tasks:

The volunteer will work under the supervision of the Director, ADPC Academy and will be responsible for/contribute to the following:

  • Training Activities: Support the logistic arrangement and facilitate participant registration to ADPC training courses. 
  • E-learning: Support the uploading of e-learning material onto the Regional Climate and Disaster Resilience e-learning Portal. 
  • Partners engagement: Support the coordination of stakeholders from Central Asia and Mongolia. 

Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the Director of ADPC Academy.

Working Principles:

The volunteer will be based in Bangkok, the work from home modality is applied, but must report himself/ herself at the ADPC Office in Bangkok when requested. For any travel required to deliver the duties in this assignment, the volunteer will follow the ADPC travel policies and receive Daily Subsistence Allowance (per diem and accommodation as applicable) per ADPC rates during official missions. Travel itinerary will require prior authorization from the Director of ADPC Academy.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Master’s degree in Development, Education, or other relevant fields of study with a strong background in institutional capacity building.

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of substantive work experience in international/national organizations
  • Proven track record of organizing events, capacity building, and facilitating high-level discussions.
  • Ability to operate MS Office Suites and other relevant software.
  • Development of e-learning modules is desirable.

  • Cross-cultural awareness and ability to work amongst a diverse group of staff, and partners
  • Strong desire to learn and undertake new challenges.
  • Must be a creative problem-solver, self-confident, and willing to work for extended hours or days if necessary.

Language Proficiency

Excellent English and Russian proficiency in oral and written communication, including a demonstrated track record in technical report writing and the ability to communicate technical matters effectively to a general audience
