GEM, the Global Earthquake Model (www.globalquakemodel.org), is a non-profit, international effort to collaboratively improve earthquake risk assessment and understanding worldwide. Together with hundreds of collaborators around the world we are developing global datasets, scientific models, open-source software tools (www.openquake.org) and a platform for communication and calculation of all aspects of earthquake risk. GEM is well connected to the larger international open source, earthquake science and disaster mitigation communities, and interacting with them is part of the experience.

We are looking for a full-time developer to join our team at ETH in Zürich (http://www.seismo.ethz.ch). We are looking for team-players with energy, aptitude, and a positive attitude, as well as a passion for developing high quality software. Our ideal candidate would have experience in the following:

- JavaScript expert with knowledge of extjs and at least one other application framework
- Django, HTML, CSS
- Object-oriented software development
- Python
- HTTP / REST
- RDBMS (ideally Postgres), but also NoSQL
- DVCS, preferably git
- Unit tests, naturally
- Experience with any GIS is a plus
- Experience with UI design is a plus
- Linux
