Description

The Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in the Education Sector (GADRRRES) is a multi-stakeholder mechanism composed of UN agencies, international organizations and international and regional networks  working to ensure that duty-bearers are able to:

  • Protect learners and education workers from death, injury, and harm in schools.
  • Plan for educational continuity in the face of all expected hazards and threats.
  • Safeguard education sector investments.
  • Strengthen risk reduction and resilience through education.

GADRRRES is currently looking for a website developer to update and redesign its website (https://gadrrres.net). It is worth to be noted that the GADRRRES website is relatively small (around twenty (20) pages) and does not have complex functionality.

Expectations

  • Promote GADRRRES as a referent on school safety in the context of disaster risk reduction
  • Provide information on GADRRRES functioning (i.e., GADRRRES Members) and activities (i.e., Working Groups) along with concrete case studies
  • Provide knowledge base for members, WISS countries and other stakeholders through various tools (i.e., virtual library, international and regional events, CoP Safe Children, Safe Schools, YouTube channel, social media, newsletter)
  • Encourage stakeholders to become members/affiliates
  • Encourage countries to sign up to the Worldwide Initiative for Safe Schools

Essential duties

  • Undertake the WordPress transfer of the GADRRRES website from Craft CMS
  • Add plugins as needed
  • Find the ghost pages / identify the broken links and reactivate them (as needed)
  • Propose a new design layout and set it up
  • Propose a revised organisation of the resources and news sections, and set them up
  • Support GADRRRES with the development of new pages and the update of existing ones
  • Ensure the GADRRRES website is operational
  • Provide training on WordPress use

Required qualifications

  • Associate degree in computer science or a related field
  • Proven working experience in web development
  • Familiar with WordPress and Craft CMS
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills to deal with multiple tasks within the constraint of timeline
  • Ability to work remotely
