Applications are open until November 30 for the 2019 RISK Award. The RISK Award funds a project that improves risk reduction, risk management or adaptive capacities in regards to coastal dangers. The alignment of the project to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction will also be assessed.

During 10-11 October 2018, ICoE-TDDR will host a regional forum in Bangkok, Thailand. Through panel discussions and workshop break-out sessions, the TDDR in Asia Forum will examine how the current development model in Asia may increase disaster risk. IRDR invites about 80 participants to engage in a deep exploration of how risks are generated, and can be addressed.

The Innovation Center on Natural Hazards and Infrastructure is hosting its second international conference, and invites authors to submit abstracts by September 15, 2018. Themes include earthquakes, landslides, floods, climate change, risk warning and management, vulnerability assessment, and infrastructure resilience, among others.

The sixth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2019) will take place from 13 to 17 May, 2019, under the theme "Resilience Dividend: Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Societies." Interested parties are invited to express their interest in organizing side events during the GP2019. Please submit your application by 28 September, 2018.

The Periperi U partnership is convening an intensive, two-week Risk Methods School from 10-22 September 2018 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This collaboration responds to the call for Africa’s scientists and researchers to work more closely with humanitarian action, development and DRR practitioners. Submit an application by August 20 to reserve a spot.

The High Impact Weather Project aims to build resilience to weather-related hazards through better preparedness, with a focus on value chain provisions of weather forecasts and warnings. IRDR ICoE-SEADPRI-UKM, the Malaysia Window to Cambridge at Univerisiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, is convening a training workshop on Geohazards and Disaster Risk Reduction on 18-20 September 2018 in Penang, Malaysia. The training is designed to build the capacity of scientists from Malaysia and the region on hazards assessment for disaster risk reduction.

A training course will be held from October 1-5, 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan, and will focus on all aspects of earthquake hazard and risk assessment. Participants at the Master and PhD level, post-docs, and young-career candidates from academia, practitioners, and policy communities from East and Southeast Asia are invited to apply by August 31st.
