From August to October 2024, UNDRR organized three table-top exercises (TTX) in Mauritius, Madagascar and Seychelles

Since 2021, Start Network has been anticipating tropical cyclones in Madagascar, financing anticipation and early-response projects implemented by its members in the country.

This CCDR finds that Madagascar’s aspiration to evolve into an emerging country by 2040 will be derailed unless it can bolster its resilience to intensifying climate shocks to safeguard its modest development gains and boost economic growth.

This exercise was designed to evaluate the procedures and mechanisms for emergency plans in the Indian Ocean Commission member states in preparation for potential cyclones and floods.

Funded by UNDRR, the project aims to improve risk reduction and preparedness, institutionally and operationally, in four Indian Ocean Island states: Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles.

As a result of the drought, the Famine Early Warning Systems Network expects staple food prices to be higher across the region than in both 2023 and the five-year average.
