Foresight's aim is to help government think systematically about the future. The Foresight Programme helps to improve how we use science and technology within government and society. It draws on well tested scientifically valid techniques to inform those responsible for developing policy and strategy in government. On the basis of a thorough understanding and analysis of the subject in its broadest perspective – and an awareness of different ways in which the future may develop – Foresight can identify a range of possible outcomes. It aims to help policy makers to reach more stable decisions that are more likely to survive the uncertainties of the future.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
