The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

The science of tsunamis: creating tsunami waves in the laboratory to help protect coastal communities

Hydraulic engineering specialists, HR Wallingford, recently unveiled the realistic Tsunami Simulator. A team from University College London and HR Wallingford will use the Fast Flow Facility to test coastal defences and urban environments for their tsunami resilience, which will ultimately lead to improved engineering guidance to aid disaster management worldwide.
