The Agency of Monitoring and Forecast of Emergency Situations in Russian Federation was created on March 27, 1997 with the purpose of being an association of scientific and technical information organizations, Russian executive authority organs, Russian Academy of sciences and other organizations for development and perfecting of a state system of monitoring and forecasting of extreme situations; realization of disaster risk reduction strategies aimed at reducing natural disasters, failures and consequences of catastrophe; and coordination in this area.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
