The NDMA, headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the Apex Body for Disaster Management in India. Its vision is to build a safer and disaster resilient India by developing a holistic, pro-active, multi-disaster and technology-driven strategy for disaster management through collective efforts of all government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management to ensure timely and effective response to disasters.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
