The UME (Understanding and Managing Extremes) Graduate School has been set up by the IUSS Pavia (Institute for Advanced Study, Pavia) to run a number of graduate programmes geared towards the probabilistic assessment and mitigation of risk and post-event emergency management. The key objective is to provide a system within which Masters and Doctoral candidates can study, understand and deal with the consequences of extreme events. The UME Graduate School is hosted at the European Centre for Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering (EUCENTRE).
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
