PhD in Chemical and Environmental Risk
Pavia
The first edition (2016/2017) of the Chemical and Environmental Risk curriculum of the PhD Programme in Understanding and Managing Extremes (UME) is being offered by the UME Graduate School of the IUSS Pavia to train graduates and professionals in the assessment, mitigation and management of extreme events, with a particular focus on those arising from natural hazards.
A unique characteristic of the programme is the broad curriculum, oriented towards assessment and management of complex risk situations involving technological, environmental, behavioural and individual susceptibility risk factors. Environmental and human health risk topics are addresses by multidisciplinary approaches integrating biomedical and public health sciences, social and behavioural sciences, advanced technology (e.g. telecommunication, remote sensing), computational sciences, statistics and probability, and economics (e.g. resource management, risk insurance law).
Applications are currently open, with a deadline of April 12th 2016 at 13:00, and 11 scholarships are available for the highest ranking applicants. More information can be found at http://www.iusspavia.it/eng/dott.php?id=10&sez=1
