Reducing earthquake losses in the extended Mediterranean region
The final report provides an overview of the outcome of the UNESCO Reducing Earthquake Losses in the Extended Mediterranean Region (RELEMR) workshop, including in annex C, the abstracts of the presentations given at special sessions on the RELEMR data exchange website, Tsunamis in the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf, CTBTO supporting activities in RELEMR, and the Earthquake Model of the Middle East Region, among others.
It asserts that the workshop and its follow-up should be seen in the context of the implementation by the countries concerned of the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015, which was adopted at the World Conference on Disaster Reduction held in Kobe, Japan, in January 2005 and convened within the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction.
