Lao Red Cross is a social organization in Lao PDR, being membership of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement and was established on 1st January 1955. It was then recognized and certified by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on 23rd May 1957 and obtained a membership of the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) on 25th October 1957, during the 24th General Assembly of the Red Cross in New Delhi, India. Lao Red Cross has a mission as auxiliary to the government in the area of poverty reduction and helping victims from both natural and man-made disasters and assisting on the health care of the people.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
