Online course: Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment
This online training course provides an introduction to the use of geo-information for multi-hazard risk assessment, including natural hazard assessment, elements at risk maping and vulnerability evaluation.
Focus is on hazards and risk in urban areas. The course adopts a task-based learning approach, combining self-study with online support by an ITC instructor. The course is structured as a series of sessions that guide the course participants through the entire risk assessment process. The subject matter of each session is introduced using slide decks and other documentation. In addition, each session includes several practical assignments that involve the use of spatial data about a simulated Riskcity exposed to multiple hazards The ILWIS open-source GIS software is used for spatial analysis in these practial assignments.

We expect you to have a BSc degree or equivalent in a discipline related to the course, preferrably combined with some working knowledge in using RS/GIS software tools. Proficiency in the English language (IELTS score of 6.0 or more) is a prerequisite.
