E-2 (Compound): Percentage of local governments that have adopted and implemented local disaster risk reduction strategies in line with national strategies

Youth for Good - Nepal conducted retrofitting workshops to enhance earthquake resilience in Nepal, focusing on using sustainable materials. Over 300 participants from Kathmandu district were trained, improving local capacity in disaster risk reduction and structural safety, aligning with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

UCLG ASPAC has been hosting the Secretariat of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) for Southeast Asia (SEA) since 2018. The task of the secretariat is to: (i) Support the Development of Climate Action Plans (CAPs); (ii) Build the capacity of GCoM Signatories; and (iii) Become the helpdesk.

The rollout of UCLG Resilience Module to support LGs in Asia Pacific

UCLG ASPAC received a request from its member, Bontang City to support the city’s disaster risk reduction and urban resilience efforts. In collaboration with the UNDRR, BNPB, and MoHA of Indonesia, UCLG ASPAC organised a training on DRR and Urban Resilience in Bontang on April 29-30, 2024.

The DRR4Africa project seeks to improve the resilience of three African cities from climate-induced disasters by collaboratively identifying the biggest disaster threats, and developing solutions packages tailored to these cities.

The workshop aims to contribute to urban resilience efforts in Mongolia and Japan by facilitating information exchange and peer learning.

The project works on community access to risk reduction information and tools in El Salvador. The information empowers the community to know their right to participate and improves community's safety and preparedness.

The development of awareness-raising programs to reduce risk is essential for the mobilization and participation of citizens in prevention and mitigation strategies, in order to increase public awareness of the risks existing in the municipality.

LINKS aims to improve disaster resilience in Europe by strengthening links between technologies and society with a focus on the use of Social Media and Crowdsourcing in disasters.
