The Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) invites applications for a doctoral fellowship in international environment and development studies with a focus on the following thematic area from candidates with a research-based Master’s degree and a GPA of B or above in development studies, international environmental studies or other relevant fields. Proficiency in English as a working language is a prerequisite. Research and/or working experience in developing countries will be considered an additional qualification.
Noragric is engaged in education, research, institutional collaboration and assignments in international environment and development studies. The Department has a PhD programme in Environment and / or Development Studies, three MSc. programmes –
1 International Development Studies,
2 International Environmental Studies

The Department’s PhD programme consists of mandatory and elective courses with oral and written examinations and a major research component. Research would focus on the political economy of vulnerabilities, resilience and adaptive capacities of rural households and communities and the impact of climate and environmental change on these. Preference will be given to qualified candidates with research interest in South Asia or Sub-Saharan Africa.
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their academic qualifications, the quality of the draft research proposal and previous research and other relevant experience. The shortlisted applicants may be called for an interview as a part of the evaluation.
